Jeune cadre falot, Goda apprend un jour en rentrant de son travail que son amie s'est suicidée à l'aide d'un revolver. Errant ivre mort dans un quartier mal famé de Tokyo, il rencontre Chisato, jeune femme énigmatique attirée par la mort. Elle est membre d'un gang qui humilie Goda et le passe à tabac. Pour lui, l'obtention d'un revolver devient alors une véritable obsession. Mais ses tentatives maladroites ne lui apportent qu'humiliations et coups, jusqu'au jour où le hasard met entre ses mains un revolver.
